2 November celebrated as All Souls' Day
All Souls' Day is observed on 2nd November annually to honour the dead souls. In Roman Catholicism, this day commemorates all those souls who are faithfully departed and are believed to be in purgatory because they died with the guilt of lesser sins on their souls.

1.INDIAN ARMY has developed a simple and secured messaging application name the "secure application for the internet" (SAI).
The application supports an end to end secure voice, text and video calling services for the Android platform over the internet.
2.Malayalam writer, Paul Zacharia has been selected for this year’s Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the Kerala government’s highest literary honour. Zacharia was chosen for his contribution to Malayalam literature during the past five decades.
3.“Tulsi Das Chugh Award 2020” won by CSIR-CDRI Scientist Dr Satish Mishra, Principal Scientist, Division of Molecular Parasitology and Immunology, CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow.
Ministry of Science & Technology - Dr Satish Mishra gets this award for research work on Malaria Parasite’s Life Cycle, which is a complex process involving two hosts and three invasive stages.
4.Indian boxers Amit Panghal, Sanjeet and Ashish Kumar have won gold medals at the recently concluded Alexis Valentine International Boxing Tournament held in Nantes, France. The tournament was the first international event that Indian boxers were a part of since the lockdown.
5.The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has designated 18 individuals, all Pakistan based, as “terrorists” under the UAPA Act, 2019. The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act, 2019 was passed by the Parliament in August 2019. It amends the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
6.Smart Power India launched the ‘Electricity Access in India and Benchmarking Distribution Utilities’ report on October 28, 2020.
According to the report, 92% of customers reported the overall availability of electricity infrastructure within 50 metres of their premises and 87 per cent of the surveyed customers to have access to grid-based electricity. The remaining 13 per cent can use non-grid sources or do not use any electricity at all
7.In Madhya Pradesh, the Panna Tiger Reserve has been included in the ‘World Network of Biosphere Reserves’ list of the UNESCO.
This is the 12th biosphere reserve from India to be included in the ‘World Network of Biosphere Reserves’, and third from Madhya Pradesh, after Pachmarhi and Amarkantak. Currently, Panna Tiger Reserve is home to 54 tigers.
8.The Centre has formed the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas. It was brought in via an ordinance.
However, the commission awaits formal scrutiny by the Supreme Court (SC) before it can be brought into effect.
