 1.The Defense Research and Development Organization - DRDO successfully tested the Quick Response Surface-to-Air Missile System (QRSAM) on November 13, 2020. The test was conducted at the comprehensive test field in Chandipur on the Odi Saha coast. The test is a continuation of a series of missile tests conducted by DRDO in the past two months.


2.Lake Meteor in Lonar in Buldhana District of Maharashtra and Soor Sarovar in Agra were declared Ramsar sites, which are protected status granted by the International Ramsar Wetland Convention. With the latest data included, the total number of Ramsar sites in India is 41, the highest in South Asia.


3.China has begun to build a strategic railway line (this is the second major railway line to Tibet) that will connect Sichuan Province in southwest China with Linzhi, Tibet, near the border of Arunachal Pradesh in India. Linzhi (also known as Nyingchi) is located near the border of Arunachal Pradesh.


4.The second phase of Malabar Exercise 2020 began between the navies of India, Australia, Japan and the United States in the Northern Arabian Sea on November 17, 2020.


5.Prime Minister Modi attended the 12th edition of the BRICS Summit hosted by Russia virtually on November 17, 2020. The summit was held in the backdrop of the United Nation’s 75th anniversary and amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.


6.The Reserve Bank of India in a statement released on November 17, 2020, informed that the co-founder and former Co-Chairman of Infosys, Senapathy (Kris) Gopalakrishnan have been appointed as the first Chairperson of Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH).


7.India and Kazakhstan held the seventh round of foreign office consultations via video conference. The countries signed the “Indian Grant Assistance for Implementation of High Impact Community Projects in Kazakhstan”.


8.the former President of the United States Barack Obama published a memoir called “A Promised Land”. It is the first of the two volumes that Obama had written during his tenure as President of United States which is between 2009 and 2017.


9.The United Arab Emirates recently approved the issuance of Golden Card Visa with several changes. The Visa is for ten years. The visa is being provided for professionals, physicians, engineers and PhD holders from certain universities.


10.SpaceX has launched Four Astronauts (3 Americans, 1 Japanese) to the International Space Station on the first full-fledged taxi flight for NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) by a private company. They were launched by Falcon Rocket from the Kennedy Space Center.


11.Dr Susanta Kar, Senior Scientist, Molecular Parasitology and Immunology, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research- Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI) was honoured with “Prof. A N Bhaduri Memorial Lecture Award 2020” by Society of Biological Chemists (India), Bengaluru.


12.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda in Jawaharlal Nehru University Campus, New Delhi through video conferencing.
